RELEASED NATIONALLY THROUGH MRA ENTERTAINMENT OCTOBER 16

Cinderella Sings the Blues is the ‘Carrie Bradshaw meets Bonnie Raitt’ debut EP from Brisbane blues songstress Lana Martino-Smith.  Drawing inspiration from performers such as Bob Dylan, Rufus Wainwright and Billie Holiday, Lana recasts the blues for the Sex and the City set by reminding us that for every man who done us wrong, there’s another waiting with a glass slipper.

‘The blues traditionally draws on heartache and pain, and Lord knows I can certainly relate to that, but I’m naturally an optimistic person and I wanted to reflect that in my music,’ Lana explains.

Cinderella is punctuated by the moaning guitar work of blues guru Dave McGuire and driven by an hypnotic rhythm section comprised of some of Australia’s best jazz/blues specialists.  Add to the mix Lana’s sometimes sweet, sometimes guttural vocal performance and the result is blues with both grit and sparkle.

Courtesy of a highly prestigious Churchill Fellowship, Lana is currently in New York working with world-renowned vocal coach Neil Semer as well as performing and writing.

Put Cinderella Sings the Blues on repeat and you’ll ensure the clock never strikes midnight and the ball lasts forever.

The Muse's Muse - www.musesmuse.com - (USA)
"From beginning to end this project stimulates your ears, thoughts, and emotions while smoothly blending Jazz and R&B into a genre that Melissa can call her own."

Soul Tracks - www.soultracks.com - (USA)
"Forbes mixes elements of jazz, pop, lounge and soul into a very enjoyable adult disc that feels like a live nightclub performance. She has a gorgeous, clear voice and precise phrasing, and she nails this mix of original tunes and some unusual remakes."

Soul Patrol - www.soul-patrol.com - (USA)
"It's truly one of those disc's where you will be tempted to simply program the 'repeat button'...she's got a crack jazz/funk band playing behind her...kick back and let the music take your mind."

Soul Express - www.soulexpress.net - (Europe)
"No More Mondays contains some real gems...and what is really notable is that Melissa has written most of the best tracks on the CD."

Soul Site - www.soulsite.de - (Europe)
"...a collection of the finest tunes...this ex-lawyer has managed to leave her own marks on a platform that is already heavily populated with beautifully sounding Soul-Jazz-Pop female artists."
